About the role

In this role, you'll be right at the heart of bringing Vay's technology to life in the real world. You'll work hands-on with our remotely-operated vehicles and telestations, helping build, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot the hardware that powers our engineering and fleet operations in Berlin. This is not a standard technician role. You'll be working across pre-series builds, prototype integrations, maintenance, diagnostics, and workshop operations—partnering closely with engineering, fleet, production, and quality teams to make sure our systems are reliable, scalable, and ready for the road.

What you'll do

  • Build, integrate, configure, and commission Remotely-Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and telestations for engineering, testing, and fleet operations
  • Perform hardware integration, system bring-up, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and functional validation of vehicle and telestation systems
  • Execute maintenance, repairs, retrofits, and upgrades across Vay's engineering and commercial fleets
  • Support pre-series builds and prototype programs, including installation and validation of new hardware components and system revisions
  • Investigate and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, software, and system-level issues efficiently in both workshop and field environments
  • Document build configurations, repair actions, deviations, and test results in internal systems, while contributing to stronger technical documentation and repeatable processes
  • Support workshop operations including tooling readiness, spare parts management, safety compliance, and housekeeping standards
  • Collaborate closely with production engineering, quality, fleet operations, and R&D teams to improve manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and overall system robustness

What you'll need

  • 2-5 years of experience as a vehicle technician, ideally in a fast-paced automotive, prototype, fleet, or engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in vehicle build, integration, and maintenance
  • Experience troubleshooting across complex vehicle systems, including HV systems and hybrid drivetrains, CAN/LIN, HVAC, cooling, chassis, and suspension
