Senior Systems Designer

About the role

Join the Design Foundations team as Senior Systems Designer, focusing on a higher quality modular design system and faster design/development to ship times. You will help lead GetYourGuide into the future with best in systems designs and processes, bridging design, engineering, and product strategy.

What you'll do

• Shape, govern, and evolve the design language at GetYourGuide, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and scalability across products.
• Partner closely with multi-disciplinary team members — Product Design, Content Design, Product Management, Engineering, Research, Data products, and others.
• Work across all stages of the design process: requirements gathering, ideation, concept development, validation, wireframing, prototyping, final visual design, and implementation support.
• Guide teams in using the system effectively, while nurturing a culture that embraces system thinking over isolated solutions.
• Anticipate and embed emerging trends like generative UI, adaptive theming, and real-time personalization into the system roadmap.
• Create beautiful, emotionally compelling, pixel-perfect designs that communicate design system patterns to engineers and partners.
• Sequence complex projects into manageable, actionable steps that drive progress across teams.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of experience in system design and product design.
• Track record of designing and shipping design patterns that have scaled to millions of users with successful outcomes for global users and the business.
• Experience in various engagement models, from centralized to embedded, to support a tech organization with system design.
• Understanding of the interplay between frontend interactions and backend logic, ensuring designs are technically feasible.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity that brings the user, technology, and business together.
• Exceptional collaboration skills with proven processes that bring tech functions together to craft a design system in code and pixels.
• Extraordinary thoughtfulness and craft in interaction design and prototyping.
• Experience collaborating with machine learning and data science teams to influence design from a user-centered and GenAI lens.
