Senior Software Engineer - Platform

About the role

As a Senior Platform Engineer in the Cloud Infrastructure in our Application Platform organization, you will shape, build and maintain a scalable, reliable and state-of-the-art compute platform for the Scout24 product development teams. Our platform supports various networking, persistence and compute requirements for all Scout24 applications and provides seamless capabilities and integrations for our internal developers.

What you'll do

• Develop state-of-the art products around cloud infrastructure, e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, networking and Infrastructure as Code
• Support companywide adoption of your team's products and cloud technologies
• Solve challenging problems in a distributed system serving millions of customers
• Apply product thinking when developing the tools and services of your team
• Be a mentor and help your team mates to develop as professionals
• Share your knowledge in blog posts and at meetups and conferences

What you'll need

• In-depth knowledge of cloud providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform) and their services and APIs
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes microservices architectures and internal components
• Confident presentation and strong influence skills - able to adapt level and style to the audience
• Proficiency in modern programming languages - preferably Typescript, Javascript or Go
• Ability to create and consume Rest APIs
• Outcome over output-based mindset
• A start-small-learn-fast attitude
• Empathy for developers; a passion for internal platforms as a service to help organizations scale and maximize efficiency and simplicity

Nice to have

• Experience leveraging AI tools to drive problem-solving and productivity, maintaining effective human oversight and judgement
• Experience with designing and operating a network architecture in the cloud including load-balancing (AWS ALBs), CDNs (AWS Cloudfront) and logically isolated virtual networks (AWS VPCs)
• Experience with AWS CDK, Python, Kotlin/Java
• Experience building/maintaining backstage.io based developer portals
