About the role
This is a Data Engineer position within the Traveler Data Engineering team, focused on building trusted data foundations and self-serve capabilities for GetYourGuide's marketplace. You'll create reliable datasets and pipelines that power traveler-facing decisions across acquisition, conversion, engagement, and retention.
What you'll do
- Build end-to-end data solutions independently to deliver reliable, high-quality datasets and pipelines
- Work closely with Product and Data teams to translate business needs into delivered outcomes
- Apply best practices in code quality, data modeling, testing, and monitoring/alerting
- Refactor and simplify existing pipelines, fix data quality issues, and make performance improvements
- Participate in planning, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to raise team effectiveness
- Maintain sustainable balance between operational responsibilities and building new solutions
What you'll need
- 3+ years experience in data engineering with hands-on experience across data technologies and analytics tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Expertise in SQL and Python for building robust data pipelines and models
- Experience operating data at scale with Delta, Snowflake, PostgreSQL/MySQL
- Strong dbt proficiency and familiarity with Spark
- Understanding of data visualization tools like Looker/Tableau and Jupyter notebooks
- Ability to prioritize effectively, manage stakeholders, and translate business needs
- AI-first mindset using modern AI tools while maintaining quality and governance standards
Nice to have
- Experience delivering data solutions for marketplaces and product analysis
- Customer-journey and metric thinking with ability to build reliable KPIs and funnels
- Software engineering background with Java/Scala and strong CS fundamentals
