About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead two mobile app teams building customer-facing Android and iOS applications, with end-to-end ownership of delivery. The role covers technical direction, roadmap planning, stakeholder management, and high-quality execution in close alignment with product and business goals. This is a fixed-term 12-month contract to provide maternity cover.

What you'll do

  • Lead and grow engineering teams across all software development areas, from customer-facing products to core platforms and internal systems.
  • Create a safe, inclusive environment where engineers can do their best work, grow in their careers, and build clear team ownership.
  • Define and evolve engineering standards, technical direction, and best practices to ensure scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable software.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to translate long-term business goals into a clear and executable engineering roadmap.
  • Drive delivery across the full software development lifecycle, balancing speed, quality, and sustainable execution.
  • Coach engineers and team leads, support career development, and foster technical and collaborative excellence across the organization.
  • Shape the culture, ways of working, and leadership standards of the broader organization as part of the management team.
  • Team up with Talent Acquisition and peers to attract, hire, and retain diverse engineering talent.

What you'll need

  • Passion for building, leading, and growing successful software engineering teams in a product-oriented environment.
  • Experience leading software development across multiple teams, products, or technical domains.
  • Good understanding of modern software architecture, engineering processes, and quality practices.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills that help people grow, collaborate well, and perform at their best.
  • Ability to turn strategic goals into clear priorities, pragmatic plans, and meaningful outcomes.
  • Experience managing stakeholders effectively and working well with Product, Design, and business partners.
  • Clear and fluent communication skills in English, with the ability to align different audiences around a shared direction.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to drive problem-solving and productivity, maintaining effective human oversight and judgement.
